"Thank you for involving me as my dad's carer"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Minor Injuries Unit

(as a carer),

A big thank you to Nurse Docherty for the care and consideration given to my 86 year old dad after a fall at home.

She treated dad at the minor injuries unit at the Queen Elizabeth and contacted me - updating out of date next of kin details in his records - after recognising dad's memory issues might increase his risk. In doing so she has made sure that I have been able to get/give dad the aftercare that he needed. I cannot thank her enough.

Also thanks to the district nurses who are now treating dad's injury at home and have followed up with me about falls prevention, OT and carers rights.

It’s still a really difficult thing caring for dad and keeping him as independent as possible at home but health staff involving me as his carer in this recent event has made a huge difference to helping me to manage this.

Dear clyde35

Thank you for taking the time to leave such lovely feedback in regards to your experience of your dad's visit to the Minor Injuries Unit of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

It was great to hear how Nurse Docherty updated your dad's out of date next of kin information so there weren't any complications further down the line and made sure you were updated throughout on his care.

I will be sure to pass on your thanks to the staff at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital as well as the district nurses who have helped with treating your dad's injury at home.

I'm sure they will be touched to hear your praise. I hope your dad continues to get the care he needs and having you there as a support will undoubtfully help.

Please pass on our thanks to your father also and please take care.

Kind regards

Kevin
