About: Gartnavel General Hospital / Elderly Medicine (wards 2a, 2b, 2c, 3a, 3c, 4c, 5c, 6a, 8a & 8c)

After a bout of pneumonia and a pacemaker fitting my elderly father with dementia was admitted to one of the medicine for the  elderly ward at Gartnavel (8C). The ward is well run and positive kind caring place to be. The staff were excellent and despite a considerable workload and lots of challenges, they took excellent care of my dad. He had his 90th Birthday on the ward and the staff were excellent, getting him a cake and card and allowing immediate family to visit him on the day in a covid responsible way using a visitor lounge. I can't thanks the staff enough for his care and the kindness they showed him during his time on the ward before he was able to come home.

Dear Charafw66

Thank you so much for telling us about the care your Dad received in Ward 8C.

No-one wants to spend their birthday in hospital so it is heartening to read that the staff arranged for the family to visit, as well as organising a birthday cake and card for your Dad.

In these challenging times, it means a lot to staff when patients and families take the time to show their thanks and appreciation. I will be delighted to share your feedback with the staff.
