After my health took a bad turn I was referred to a neurologist at Basingstoke hospital, I had an MRI which showed a spinal cyst which was compressing my spinal cord, I was then told by the consultant that he would refer me to a neurosurgeon, that surgeon said that I would likely end up in a wheelchair within 10 years. They wanted to do an operation but I wanted to wait a while to think about it as it is a big operation. A review was due by another consultant and this time the opinion was I have had it since birth and they thought that what the original surgeon said was a bit extrem, and wanted to sign me off but ordered another MRI.
In the interim my face went numb so my dr wrote to the neurologist and the reply was that there had been a clear brain MRI 3 years ago - and that was it. So I am left with a numb face, I wee myself, I now poo myself, I walk funny i get spasms in my feet and life just seems a struggle. I do feel at 50 i will now be left to just get on with it till i die, because when my dr asks neurology about an issue that seems to be neurological and they haven't helped, where else can I go. One thing for sure I NEVER want to see the same neurosurgeon again, as my trust is gone.
