I was originally going to Hexham General Hospital but my operation was re-directed to NTGH, which wasn't a problem. I was admitted last Friday to the surgical day unit for a hip replacement and post operatively to Ward 8. I was naturally anxious. Every single member of staff I encountered after I entered the hospital from the porters, domestic staff, tea ladies etc, nurses anaesthetist, OTs, physios, drs, and my consultant all treated me with kindness, courtesy and care. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. They were professional, patient, attentive, very friendly and cheerful, despite being under staffed and overworked. I might add the food was excellent standard too! I had to ring the post operation helpline after being discharged for advice and the help and advice I received was excellent, the lady I spoke to was very kind and knowledgable and even offered to contact my consultant for further advice. I would just like to say thank you so much to everyone concerned. Well done all! We are so lucky to have our NHS!
