"Reassuring Oncology Service"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Accident and emergency North Devon District Hospital / Cancer Services

(as the patient),

I was on my first session of chemotherapy for prostate cancer and needed advice after about 5 days of constipation. The Acute Oncology Service were on the end of the phone and gave appropriate advice. Later that day the pain became acute and the Acute Oncology Service advised a visit to A&E where the pain was resolved.

The Acute Oncology Service gave me a follow up call later in the day which was reassuring. Later they helped with my next chemo session. I had a stomach bug and after talking to the Acute Oncology Service at the Seamoor unit, I was again advised to go to A&E, they were excellent. I was given IV antibiotics and was able to go home.
