"Routine pre op appointment"

About: Magnolia Suite

(as the patient),

I felt like a pariah for not wearing a mask. I am exempt and was repeatedly asked why I wasn’t wearing one and why I didn’t have a lanyard. This is not required if you check the government guidelines.

I was made to wash my hands in front of the receptionist on arrival as if I was unclean. I had already used sanitizer as requested. I felt very unwelcome. I am triple jabbed and already had covid. I am a responsible adult and was made to feel unwelcome because I didn’t wear a mask. I find this unacceptable.

Hello

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with us. I am sorry to hear that you were made to feel unwelcome in your recent appointment. As an NHS Trust we need to ask patients to wear a mask for the safety of both our staff and our patients however, we would not want anyone to feel uncomfortable in doing so.

I have informed our infection control team about the concern, but if you would like to discuss further you can contact me on Patient.Experience@stockport.nhs.uk

Kind regards,

Aoife Isherwood.
