"Coming here was one of the best decisions"

About: CGL Birmingham / East Hub

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I have struggled for many years with my addiction.  I was ashamed and lost.  Never asked for help because of the thought of being judged.  But coming here was one of the best decisions.

Ladies...

Joanne - Recovery Coordinator

Shamiso - Nurse

Sian - Recovery Motivator

Lisa - Recovery Motivator

Helen - Health Care Assistant

They welcomed me with warmth and understanding.  We had a laugh and they lifted my spirits up when I was down.  I have learned a lot about myself that I didn't know before.  They taught me to be more confident.

I hoped but didn't think that it would be possible for me to change.  But now I am happier and healthier.

Carry on ladies doing the BRILLIANT job you are doing!

Thank you

Dear TPPcglbrum

Thank you for the lovely feedback you've shared with us about our detox support.

I'm Lydia, part of the team who listens and responds to people's feedback. Apologies that my reply is reaching you a little late.

It's so great to hear about the brilliant support you received from Joanne, Shamiso, Sian, Lisa and Helen. I will make sure that their manager's are made aware of your feedback so that they can receive some recognition for how well they supported you. I'm sure they will be over the moon by your kind words.

I can only begin to imagine how challenging your struggles must have been, especially with the extra added pressure of feeling like you couldn't reach out for support because you didn't want to be judged.

I'm so glad that you found the courage to get the help that you needed and all credit to you for being committed and open to the new skills and knowledge of recovery that has been shared with you.

It must feel absolutely amazing to be in such a happier and healthier place and I hope that your future is full of even more positive change.

Stay strong, determined and confident.

Best wishes,

Lydia
