I am aware how stretched the NHS are at present this is why I had to share the excellent care that my mother received while waiting for me to pick her up at the discharge lounge at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Diane the staff nurse who cared for my mother makes me proud of the NHS.
When I came to collect my mother who sadly has dementia from the discharge lounge she was sitting beside Diane while she was working singing her favourite songs from Frank Sinatra which Diane had learned was her favourite and found for her to help settle her. My mother loves singing.
The nurse help her get changed into her clothes fixed her hair and explained in 5 minutes more about my mother's time in hospital and her medications than she had in her whole time in hospital. My mother spoke about this lovely girl all the way home and what a lovely time she had. Thank you so much for the care my mother had.
