"Service from NHS 24 and subsequent treatment at A&E"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Emergency Medicine NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service)

(as the patient),

I fell & hurt my arm on the afternoon of Christmas Day. Initially I didn’t do anything but the pain got increasingly worse.  Called NHS 24 about 7.45pm. Very pleasant, very helpful and suggested that I make my way to A&E for about 9pm.

Arrived at A&E.  Gentleman on the reception/lobby desk area directed me to the reception area.  Very pleasant receptionist and she already knew that I was due to attend.   She had my notes beside her.

The first nurse I saw went over all my details and said that I would need an X-ray.  She did tell me that the  A&E was fairly busy and I may have to wait slightly longer than normal.  No issue as I just wanted to be seen.

When I got to the actual A&E the  doctor I saw was very professional and explained what would happen next.  I said to her that both my chest and arm was very sore and she said that both parts would be x-rayed.

I waited in the cubicle in the A&E department for my x-ray.

It was then confirmed that my arm was indeed broken at the elbow and the Dr put it in a sling.   She did say that I would get a letter to attend the fracture clinic at ARI.

I was pleased to be able to go home.

From the time I arrived at A&E until I left the service was absolutely  excellent.  I was seen and treated well within the agreed Scottish Government timescales

All NHS staff that I was in contact with were very friendly, knowledgeable and treated me with compassion and total respect.

They were very busy when I attended on Christmas night but still a bed t9 be cheery.

Thank you for all your help.
