"Ward 8 good hope"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Rheumatology

My mom has been in hospital for about 6 weeks she went in with cellulitis the beginning of November was in for four weeks with various infections she kept getting while in there she came home in the 15th December was back in on the 16th December as she still had an infection in thr past two weeks she has had a chest infection then hospital based pneumonia and now ecoli just to make the matters worse ward 8 at good hope have not answered the phone to me for the last three days 5 days ago I made 68 call to finally get through at 10pm at night the next day again I couldn't get through but got a call from a doctor who was very nice since then I have had no contact no one is answering the phone and even the main reception are frustrated with it I have contacted pals with no response and I am very worried for my mother I'm her only child and next of kin it's Christmas she probably thinks I have forgotten her

We are sorry to hear of the difficulties you are facing regarding getting some feedback on the treatment and care your mother. If you encounter any further difficulties regarding your mother’s care or lack of communication please contact our Patient Relations Team on 0121 424 0808 (lines open 9am - 3.30pm, Monday to Friday) or you can email your concerns to pals@uhb.nhs.uk.

Across the Trust, additional ward clerk support is being sourced to support communication with relatives on the wards. The Trust also have IPad’s in place and mobile phone handsets distributed to help with communication in various ward areas. I am sorry that your experience was not a positive one and should you wish to discuss your concerns further, please do not hesitate to contact the Patient Relations Team.

Hi that is so lovley to hear unfortunately my mom is still in hospital has yet another infection I haven't seen her for 9 weeks it takes me alot of calls to get through I work full time and have to ring in my breaks things have been slightly better with getting through but not much also of they have ipads in there and help to use it why has that not been offered to me not once I ask for them to ask my mom to turn her phine on but she doesn't I have missed Christmas with her and her birthday is the end of the month I contacted pals who just said sorry after waiting many days for a response and a promise to get back To me I'm still yet to hear back

I am sorry to see you found my previous response unhelpful. Unfortunately we do not get provided with any of your details on the Care Opinion platform, however, from the information given I have been able to find the concern you raised with PALS and can see that they have now made contact with you.

PALS have raised your concerns with the Senior Sister, Matron and Doctors on Ward 8 and will reply to you privately when their enquiries have been answered.

I hope that I have been able to offer you reassurance that we do take your concerns seriously.
