"Royal hospital for children emergency department"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Accident & Emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

Last night (new year) I took my 5 year old son to the emergency department as I was extremely concerned about his general condition from having a virus. I just think this wonderful team deserve recognition for the work they do. The triage nurse, Craig, was outstanding as always. The nurse, Julie, was attentive and reassuring and I really need to mention this wonderful doctor we had called Mr McKenzie (I think that was his name). His care for my son was exceptional and this hasn’t gone unnoticed. He was warming, caring and left no stone unturned with investigating what was going on with my son. I am an anxious mum as my boy has had quite a start in life but his presence was reassuring. I am so grateful.

Dear GBrodie

What a lovely post to read, to start the New Year with.

We were sorry that your wee boy was poorly and needed emergency care, that must have been so worrying for you and your family - it was particularly kind of you to take the time to tell us about the compassion and kindness our ED team provided you with, especially Craig, Julie and Dr McKenzie at this time.

We are so proud of all our staff for ensuring the children we look after, and their families, are provided with care that is tailored and specific for their needs. It sounds like the team got it absolutely right for you at New Year. I can share that our Director has made personal contact with the ED team to pass on his own thanks, alongside your own heartfelt comments.

Thank you so much for trusting us to look after your son, and it's our sincere wish that he's now feeling a lot better.

Sending best wishes to you both

Coral
