My Dad was cared for on this ward for about a week - he had developed pneumonia as a complication from MND. He was looked after well by all of the staff on ward E58 - thank you. My only area of concern was in relation to entering / leaving the ward and also the small waiting area as you entered the ward. My Dad unfortunately was soon to be moved to a hospice so it was quite traumatic for us as a family and although the staff allowed us 2 visitors on occasion, family members needed to wait in the area before you enter onto the ward and this faced directly onto the kitchen area. It was difficult at times as we had some upsetting moments, yet we were sat close to staff working in the kitchen area - and also with other visitors to the ward. We also found it odd that we had to be buzzed in and out via 2 doors every time and this needed staff to do this for us - taking up a lot of their time. I do appreciate you need security however it seems odd that there is a not a better way to achieve this than have to bother staff to gain entry / exit through both doors.
