"unpleasant stay on ward"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Gynaecology

(as a service user),

I was a patient in RIE in gynae ward 210 last summer and I did not appreciate the way staff nurses and staff auxiliaries treated me.

I was unwell and tried to sleep and rest and most of the staff on shift didn’t even knock before entering the room. They were really loud on nightshift - talking laughing and as I was unwell that was a huge trigger for my anxiety and ability to rest properly.

Food was very poor quality- cold dry toast and I didn’t get offered a cup of tea.

From my experience I do not recommend being a patient there.

Dear Patient66

I am so sorry to read that your stay in ward 210 was so unpleasant and that this has also affected your anxiety. This is not the care we would expect from our team.We would also expect you to be offered refreshments regularly.

Clinical Manager Pauline Smith has made sure your feedback has been shared with the nursing team to ensure they respect patient privacy and a peaceful environment overnight.
