"My recent hospital stay"

About: NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department University Hospital Hairmyres / General Medicine (Wards 9-12) University Hospital Hairmyres / Trauma & Orthopaedics (Wards 1 & 5)

(as the patient),

I was struck by a severe bladder infection. My wife called NHS 111 and very soon an ambulance arrived (in the early hours of the morning). The paramedics worked hard and eventually took me to A&E.

After a short period in A&E I was taken to Ward 3 and later to Ward 9. My total stay in hospital was one week.

I would like to express my gratitude to all staff for the first-class treatment that I received. That is all staff:

   Paramedics

   A&E staff

   Ultrasonics and X-ray staff

   Ancillary staff

Doctors and nurses in Wards 3 and 9.

Without exception, they all treated me efficiently and with a cheerful manner, for which I am so grateful. This must be difficult at these very stressful times.

Please convey my thoughts to all the staff and wish them all a very Happy Christmas.

Dear EDAtruckie,

Thank you for sharing your story on Care Opinion. I was sorry to read that you had been so unwell with a bladder infection and I hope that you are now well on the road to recovery.

I was pleased to read that your care, from calling 111 to being looked after at Hairmyres Hospital, was handled so well. I appreciate that this will have been a difficult and stressful time for you, and was pleased to read that you were looked after so efficiently by NHS 24, the Scottish Ambulance Service, and NHS Lanarkshire. I'm sure my colleagues from NHS Lanarkshire and the Scottish Ambulance Service will be equally pleased to read your lovely feedback.

Feedback like yours is so important to NHS 24. I would like to have the opportunity to ensure that the staff who managed your call are aware of your feedback. If you would like to contact me directly on patient.experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk and provide me with your details and the date of your call, I would be pleased to share your feedback with the staff involved. I am sure that they will be as pleased as I was to read your story. Please include your Care Opinion username in any email correspondence.

Once again, thank you for your thoughtful feedback. I hope you are now recovering well, and that you and your family have a peaceful and enjoyable festive period.

Happy Christmas to you and your family, and "all the best" for 2022.

Best wishes,

Andrew
