"Neonatal experience - Second to none!"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Neonatal Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

Our little boy was admitted to Craigavon Neonatal  after being born with congenital pneumonia and suspected sepsis. He spent 5 days in the ward and we can honestly say that the care he received from every member of staff was second to none. He spent the first couple of days in the intensive care room and had absolutely amazing care from every nurse who worked with him.

Nothing was ever too much trouble - we were reassured from the get-go about our son’s condition & what they were doing to treat it. They literally treat every baby as if it’s their own and it is so heartwarming to watch; it made me confident in leaving him there when we were travelling up and down and I felt so comforted to know he was being cared for so well in our absence.

We were reassured that we were welcome day or night to come and visit which was amazing, and we knew we’d always be welcomed with open arms. The little messages and craft activities they did with the babies were amazing too - we looked forward to seeing them every day.

I have no doubt that without them, our little boy wouldn’t be here today so we are forever grateful to the nurses in CAH neonatal for their care.

Thank you octanskg75 for taking the time to write this lovely feedback about how you and your little boy were treated in our Neonatal unit. We know it can be a frightening time for parents when their baby is sick and separated from them in the neonatal unit and I am pleased that our nursing staff were able to keep you informed about how he was and get you involved as much as possible. We have found that the messages from the babies to be very popular with the parents of our patients as it keeps them updated about what has happened, especially overnight.

Thank you again for all your kind words. I wish you and your little boy all the best,

David

Good Morning octanskg75

It is very helpful for staff to read feedback from you which reassures us you felt welcome in our unit, that you were well informed and had confidence in the care provided to your baby and your family.

Thank you for acknowledging that the " little extra " things we do creating memories through messages and craft activities were appreciated by you.

I hope all goes well for you all

Regards

Una Toland
