Following a wait for my total knee replacement operation for about 18 months, I was offered a slot at short notice. I took up the offer despite the Covid-19 risks, which were explained to me.
Following pre-op assessment, within two weeks the operation took place at KGH under orthopaedic consultant Mr Shangar.
The entire process on the day of the operation was superbly managed by the whole team of doctors, ward and theatre nurses, care staff and physio teams both in the ward and community visits. I experienced the highest standard of professional care during and after the operation.
I wish to thank Mr Shangar for his consultations all through the process and for his careful listening to my concerns and his assurance. His encouragement contributed to my speedy recovery. Very rarely have I come across a consummate medical professional. He is a credit to the NHS.
Everyone who dealt with me was kind, polite and friendly. You are all a supreme example for the best traditions of our country's NHS. Thank you.
