"Attitude of RAH MAU nursing staff"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / General Medicine (wards 8, 10, 11, 14, 18 & 27)

(as a service user),

Explained my situation of why I was sent up explained the nurse couldn’t get through to the unit so was sent up with a letter

This staff member coming across as if I was making it up and came across very aggressive. They informed me they were the only one answering the phone on the unit.

Didn’t reassure me at all and has actually made me more anxious

On a positive note another staff member was very reassuring and informing all patients of what’s happening and keeping us all in the loop

Dear Kilocd95

I am very sorry to read about your experience at the Medical Assessment Unit. This is not the way that we expect our staff to speak to patients and please accept my apologies for this and for the additional distress this caused. Your post will be shared with the staff so that we can reflect on how we interact with our patients. I am pleased that another staff member was able to reassure you and kept you up to date with what was happening.

Regards

Con Gillespie

Interim Chief Nurse

Clyde Sector.
