"My wife and her broken wrist"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Accident & Emergency Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Trauma and Orthopaedics

(as a relative),

My wife fell in the house and broke her wrist . Waited 2.5 hrs for an ambulance as she had also banged her head .

Her brake was so severe that the doctor at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary did a pull to reset her bones immediately and a cast was put on after a scan .

Two weeks later we were back to get another cast applied . My wife complained that her wrist was still really painful and couldn’t move her fingers much . They were supposed to do another scan to make sure all was ok but never did . A new cast was put on for a further 4 weeks . On day of removal of cast it was noted my wife was still in a lot of pain but told physio would sort it out . X ray taken but no scan . We had to insist on a scan as we thought there was something not right . Our physio did three sessions on it at also said something was not right .

We got an appointment with doctor at hospital to go over the scan which then proved the bones were not set right and we are now 9 weeks from day of break and in severe pain .

Today I dropped my wife at hospital at 7-30 am and she now faces 12 hours of surgery to try and save her hand .

From start to this day we have had four different doctors looking after her and all said physio would sort it . HOW CAN THIS BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN .

We are both so angry about the lack of care in this instance.

What happens IF she can’t use her hand ??
