"Rude receptionists "

About: Eastfield House Surgery

It took me 8 attempts to get through to reception. I understand that when calling the GP surgery that there is often the need to wait for a receptionist to become available, and that is fine- however, I would wait for 5-10 minutes to get through, and instead of being connected to a receptionist my call would be ended.

Upon finally getting through to a receptionist, I felt as though I was bothering her due to the heavy sighs and irate tone. I fully understand they have a demanding job, however they are still able to be at least polite to patients. I should not have to “hype” myself up to make a phone call to the GP simply because I experience anxiety at the thought of speaking to a rude receptionist.

Extremely unprofessional. I work for the NHS and would never dare communicate with patients in the way some receptionists do there.

I am very sorry that you have had such a bad experience getting through to our reception team on the phone. We have been having technical difficulties with our phone system which is currently being reviewed by our provider. We hope that these issues have now been resolved.

I am also very sorry that you feel our receptionist was rude. We agree that this is not acceptable and I would be grateful if you could contact me directly, either by phone or via our website, so that I have the opportunity to investigate using our call recording system and address this with the member of staff concerned.

With best wishes
