"Self-Awareness"

About: Ealing IAPT

(as the patient),

Battling stress/anxiety at Work.

I felt limited in the sense where I felt My stomach was in my mouth and I was unable to speak fluently as per normal. I felt uncomfortable to the point being within the environment felt like too much pressure.

I am confidently aware of my emotion, thoughts, behaviour, and attitude on a daily basis however experiencing not being able to talk or string along a couple of words, I genuinely felt I needed some form of help. I needed help to help me to understand the route cause of the problem for example; why it has happened to me, what has changed, and what outside force/source played a part?!

Having enrolled in the IAP service; Overcoming worry group has helped benefited me through the ways of using CBT

(Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and Areas Model when going through an episode of anxiety/stress (They were more techniques however these made logical sense). It has allowed me to break down in detail the cause of any situation by analysing the event, my thoughts, Emotion, Physical Symptoms, and behaviour.

As of late, I have trialed their suggestion for the past month and I have seen an improvement in my attitude and how I can control or manage my stress/anxiety in given situations.

Note to anyone reading going through anything, please seek help where possible. We are all human beings with a brain, mouth, hands, ears, organs, etc..and we are all different in our own way!

Taking care of your mental health is as vital as taking care of your health - dont be shy please!

Special thanks to Khensa and her team for the excellent service they have provided. A great example of clinicians who are there to help whatever the cause may be.

It is great to hear your thoughts on the Overcoming Worry course, as engaging in a group therapy can be seen as very daunting. From your comments it is clear that it helped make sense of your difficulties and provided you with techniques to manage worry moving forward. We will pass on your thanks to Khensa.

Best Wishes

Clare
