I recently suffered from extreme pain in my right hip extending down my leg.
The pain was excruciating and after two calls to my GP I was admitted to East Surrey Hospital Redhill via ambulance. During my stay I was given pain relief which was brought under control after 24hrs .
The reason of writing my story is not to complain in any way with the treatment I receive but the lack of any treatment plan to resolve my issues.
During my stay a couple of possible diagnosis were put forward but at no time did the team suggest an MRI scan, this I put forward as in my view was the only way to identify the problem. This was finally excepted just prior to my release from hospital , you can see from the wording on my discharge papers ,' Mr ? has agreed to a MRI scan. Not Mr ?? has requested .
I have had and continue to suffer from pain in my hip and leg.( 7 weeks on)
I have now had the MRI and follow up appointment with the fracture clinic where I had further x-rays on my thigh . As a result of these x-rays which potential show a tumour, the consultant has put me forward for another MRI as the first one ordered didn't cover this area.
My experience shows a reluctance to use all options available i.e. MRI scan at the time of my hospital stay and the boundaries applied to the scan once agreed.
I am now having to wait for the second scan and follow up appointment.
This is obviously having an effect on my mental health and wellbeing due to any sign of a treatment plan 7 weeks on ,it is also a waste of NHS resources, with two separate scans , two outpatient appointments, which is really the point of this letter.
Signed, hoping for a clear scan!!!!
