"Not fit for purpose"

About: Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust

My wife received major spinal surgery 7 days ago at the Walton centre in Liverpool.

Upon discharge she was told to have the wound checked on day 8.

After speaking to her GP he said you need the district nurse to visit due to her poor mobility.

The district nurses at Wigan were sent the hospital discharge letter by e-Mail, they then telephoned to say you need to visit a clinic as district nurses don’t do wound checks.

Who ever is in charge please hang your head in shame, your not offering a service that is of any use and fails to understand your patients needs.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments on this website. I am very sorry to learn of your poor experience of the District Nursing staff. I will share your posting with the relevant team, however please do get in touch with us on 01942 822376 and we can listen further, and see how we can help your wife obtain the correct service in a timely manner.

yours sincerely
