"Covid 19 Vaccinations for over 16 year olds"

About: NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde / Covid Vaccination Programme

(as a parent/guardian),

I have been unable to book my son a first Covid vaccination (let alone a second or a booster), even though he has been eligible since August.

The system won't allow him to book (unless I pretend he is a month older) and the call line simply refers him to drop-in centres.  We were turned away from the most recent as it was too busy, and there are no more advised at the moment.

In my opinion it feels like he is being hung out to dry by a system that is  clearly failing.

Dear Gilliper

I am sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing regarding your son's covid vaccination and can understand your frustration.

I am unsure if you have already tried the national helpline (0800 030 8013), however, my colleagues from the Vaccination Team have advised that there is a local COVID helpline: 0800 917 6115 that you can contact.

I hope this helps.

Kind Regards

Nicole

Update posted by Gilliper (a parent/guardian)

Thanks Nicole,

I did eventually contact your colleagues at NHSGG&C and they resolved the issue very promptly. They were excellent.

The issue is clearly with the National booking system and call centre which is shambolic. The problem is you are directed to these National services rather than direct to the board.

I sympathise with your colleagues having to interface and interact with this mess.
