I was in hospital twice over the last week with mental health problems. I had an appointment with community team in a month but they were unable to bring it forward so they directed me to the out of hours SPA phone line who directed me to 111.
On both occasions I saw a member of the Liaison Psych Team. Both times I was told that it was the responsibility of the CMHT to see me, which would have been fine except afterwards I received discharge letters that I do not believe they communicate the facts. As well as small details being incorrect (e.g. my date of birth and my race), their account of what I said does not reflect my memory of the conversation- in fact at times they had often written the exact opposite to what I said.
The whole experience has left me feeling even more frustrated with the system as I just do not believe I am going to receive the help I need. I have been bounced around the system for over ten years now and do not understand why I cannot be helped. The only people I have seen receive proper mental health treatment are those who have severely harmed themselves in such a way that is long term or those who harm others. Rightly, those people should take priority, however it must be said that when you have to get to that point to actually receive proper help, the system is surely broken.
