"Excellent care and nursing team"

About: Causeway Hospital / Accident & Emergency Causeway Hospital / Surgical 2

(as a service user),

I attended Causeway Hospital ED at the end of October 21 with severe abdominal pain, having had surgery a few weeks beforehand.  I know there is a lot of publicity about overcrowded EDs and people waiting for a very long time in ED, but within a few hours I was admitted to Surgical 2 ward, and was receiving treatment.

I had felt very poorly and was in a great deal of pain, and it was such a relief to start to feel better on the 3rd day of my admission.

The nursing team were excellent, all with a very caring and professional manner.  In particular the night staff were so helpful and kind as they did their observations through the night.  The Health Care Assistants and ancillary staff need to be singled out for special praise.  The ward was very clean, the food was more than good, and their energy and positive and jokey manner lifted everyone's spirits.

I as discharged on day 5, was home for lunch, and and well recovered now.

Hi Piscesjx95

My name is Natalie McLaughlin, and I am the Assistant Clinical Services Manager of the Emergency Department.

Sorry to hear that you had to be admitted to hospital, as I know it can be a worrying and anxious time, escpecially in the current climate.

I am so grateful to you, for taking the time to provide our staff with such positive and uplifting feedback.

As you have alluded to, ED's have been under immense scruntiy recently, and waiting times are not what we would wish for our patients. So it is good to be informed that you were admitted to an inpatient ward timely.

It is encouraging to hear, that although staff have been working under difficult and challening circumstances, they continue to be professional, courteous and helpful, and of course a little bit of humour added in helps to sustain morale.

I will take great pleasure in sharing your wonderful feedback with our staff.

Take Care, and thanks again.

Regards

Natalie McLaughlin
