About: The Great Western Hospital

We were waiting at the childrens A&E from 9.30 until 12.30 this evening and were told it would be at least another 2 hours before we could see a doctor. Our baby is 14 months old, the place is brightly lit, they had a tv playing the dvd intro for finding nemo the entire time, there were no toys, books or entertainment. The whole experience was just causing my baby more distress so i ended up discharging her. Prior to attending hospital i had called 111 the day before, who told me to call the pharmacy, who told me to call the dr, who told me to go to urgent care. We waited 3 hours in urgebt care to be told it might be an infection, if it gets worse to come back tomorrow. It was all dark and looked closed, no way in, hence why we ended up in A&E. It has been impossible for us to get our child seen or cared for. Shes not been checked since she was 2 weeks old. This system doesn't work and it isnt fit for purpose.
