I was taken in by ambulance a couple of days ago. I have respiratory issues you see - I was hardly able to get a breath and thought it would be best if l got medical attention.
A and e was quite productive in my opinion as the doctors and nurses were very quick to act and I got a cubicle in the department immediately. I feel that the doctors and nurses in the department were very quick on the uptake and began doing various tests immediately. They were very attentive and I was seen and treated very quickly.
I was then told that I would be admitted and my heart sank, I didn’t want to have to stay in hospital what with covid and everything, but it was explained to me that it really was in my best interests to stay and I have to say I’m glad I did.
I was moved up to the medical ward as soon as a bed became available for me and so far it has been grand. I know staying in hospital isn’t supposed to be a 5 star hotel so I am quite comfortable where I am. The doctors and nurses on the ward are absolutely fantastic - the nurses especially, they go out of their way to get you whatever you need.
The doctors and physiotherapists have also done a great job of explaining my treatment plan to me, and the physio is very good as well
I am now able to breathe deeply - this was something I haven’t been able to do for a while, it also is no longer sore when I breathe. I actually only noticed this this morning when I first woke up - I feel quite rejuvenated and very thankful
I also get plenty of help from the nurses when I need it and also a lot of privacy on the ward itself.
The only thing I could complain about is the food as it’s not really to my liking
