"Our little soldier"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Acute Receiving Unit (Ward 2c) Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Ward 1D

(as a parent/guardian),

Our son has been admitted in to the care of the Queen Elizabeth Childrens hospital 3 times over the past 3 months, with the first admission leading him to be in PICU for 5 days which was horrendously scary for us as first time parents. Although his diagnosis of Bronchiolitis and then on to viral wheeze is something that the nurses see very often in the winter, every nurse took the time to talk us through what was happening with such patience. Our last visit we had Kirsty looking after us and she was nothing short of spectacular in her care. We can't thank the all of the staff in Ward 2C enough.

Dear alfiemurdoch,

Sorry to hear about your son having to be admitted to RHC 3 times over the last 3 months, with Bronchiolitis and viral wheeze. Each time must have been such a frightening experience for you and your family to go through, in particular as you described "horrendously scary" when your child had to be admitted to Picu, I can only imagine what you both must have went through at that time.

It was reassuring to hear that during your stays with your son, all staff took their time to talk things through regarding what was happening with him, and did so with such patience for you and your wife.

I will pass on your thanks to the staff in ward 2C and in particular to Kirsty, whom I am sure will all be very thankful and appreciative of your lovely comments.

I hope your son is recovering well from his illness and admissions to the hospital, and thanks to you and your wife for taking the time to post on our care opinion and share your experience.

Best Wishes

Mandy
