"Hi Dad!"

About: Belfast Health & Social Care Trust / Virtual Visiting Service

(as a relative),

How great to be in touch with Dad today on the Virtual Visit screen. Although his mind a wee bit scrambled after a bad fall, he is 96 after all, he could see me and I could see him. There was some background noise being picked up quite loudly but we had a little chit chat which will have offered him some stimulation and for me a bit if peace of mind. Thanks to all involved in setting this up, wonderful! I live in London and despite having been with him for a week just recently, and seeing him into hospital, it seems a long way away. And its not really, have been thinking how most people in Ireland have relatives all over the world, what a lovely thing that they can chat and see each other with Virtual Visting

Dear Runningxz36,

My name is Máire and I'm part of the Patient and Client Experience Team that set up the Virtual Visiting service.

Firstly I want to say thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience of using the Virtual Visiting service, it's gratifying for the team to hear what a difference it makes to those who we are caring for, as well as their loved ones.

I am glad that the service was able to give you peace of mind, especially when you are geographically not able to visit as you might like to, as well as providing that connection to your dad who is recovering from a fall.

The team work hard to support our patients to be able to connect with their families and I will share with the facilitators how positive you feel the service is, and the potential for being able to use it when we are living away from Northern Ireland.

I hope your dad recovers well and that you are able to see him in person again soon.

Thank you again,

Máire Alexander
