"The Incredible Maternity Services"

About: The Princess Royal Maternity Unit / Community Midwifery The Princess Royal Maternity Unit / Maternity care (wards 68, 72 &73)

(as the patient),

Throughout my pregnancy (which is my first), the midwives involved have been absolutely incredible.

Starting with my community midwife, Fiona, I can't thank her enough for her calm, approachable reassuring manner. She really put my mind at ease and was just lovely.

During labour, I was lucky enough to be allocated two wonderful midwives (Katie and Rebecca). I gave birth at Princess Royal Maternity in Glasgow and I cannot say enough wonderful things about my experience. I had a long labour and could not have got through it without the amazing team (including the angel who appeared in the shape of the anaesthetist that gave my my epidural).

I know the service is under huge pressure and whilst the staff were obviously extremely busy, this did not impact the exceptional level of care I received. Both Katie and Rebecca were unbelievably good. They were so comforting, reassuring, kind and professional. Special mention to Rebecca for being the nicest person I have ever met. She was quite simply just incredible and I cannot say enough positive things about her. I will forever remember her kindness and care.

Post labour, I was admitted to Ward 68 and once again, the staff were amazing.

Thanks to the incredible maternity services, I am now at home with my beautiful, perfect daughter and will forever be indebted to the amazing staff.

Dear EWel88

Congratulations on the birth of your new baby! Thank-you so much for taking the time to contact us and share your experience, especially given that it must be such a busy time for you.

I was delighted to learn that throughout your pregnancy journey you have received such compassionate and personalised care and I know that this will mean such a lot to the midwives, specifically Fiona and Rebecca who made such an impact on your experience. I will take the greatest pleasure in sharing your post to the teams within community, labour ward, anaesthetics and ward 68 who I know will find it heartening to learn that their emotional support and reassurance contributed so much to your memory and the birth of your daughter.

Labour is such an intimate and special time and having your midwife there to share, prepare and support can enable the development of that unique bond you found with Rebecca! How wonderful and what a treasured memory!

I hope that you and your new baby and enjoying this special time together as a new family and thanks again on behalf of the PRM team for your kind words,

Kind regards,

Vicki Mazzoni
