"Outpatient procedure"

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

I had to go to a Gynaecology outpatient appointment today. Clinic QH-NIM3A. This is my feedback. Thank you to the lady on the ground floor at Queen’s Hospital who showed me where I needed to go which was the purple zone not stated on the letter. Thank you to the lovely Receptionist at the Women’s Outpatients Gynaecology desk who was friendly and treated me with respect. I asked during my appointment why I had been weighed beforehand and my question was not answered. I found the Healthcare Assistant patronising towards me. When a nurse unexpectedly entered the room there were then 3 medical staff 2 of them were standing making me feel outumbered and intimidated. The presence of the nurse during the procedure made it all the more horrendous. Watching on as though I’m just an object. The Gynaecologist who carried out the procedure could not have been nicer. Treated me with respect and kindness. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to make us aware of your experience, I would like to start by saying how sorry I am to hear about the way the Healthcare Assistant and Nurse made you feel. I am however so pleased to hear that the other staff you saw were friendly. I will ensure your feedback is discussed with the whole team so that they are all aware of how you felt. Please accept my apologies again for this. If you would like to discuss this further then you can contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 01708 435 454 or by email bhrut.pals@nhs.net. Once again, thank you for taking the time to make us aware of your experience.

Kind Regards

Sue Lovell

Divisional Director of Nursing for Women’s Health
