Attended A&E with chest pains on Thursday and immediately directed for an urgent ECG. This showed nothing unusual, but subsequent blood test indicated a mild heart attack had occurred recently. Moved through Same Day Emergency Care team and on to Acute Medical Unit. Doctors have said that my symptoms do not follow the text books! Second blood test showed same indicators. Then told that I would be kept in hospital until all investigations were completed including heart scan and angiogram. This was due to the risk of further heart attacks. Heart scan done on Monday morning. Angiogram will be done at another local hospital.
I have not felt poorly, so have not required a high level of care.
The nursing team have been available and responsive when required..
Things slowed and were quiet over the weekend. I was able to walk to the shop to buy newspapers and to the cafe to meet my wife and children for a hot drink and a snack.
I have been able to watch and catch up on TV programs, Netflix and sport programs on my smartphone using the hospital Wi-fi service.
I am happy with the selection and quantity of food and meals.
Tea/coffee offered regularly through the day and water is available on request.
During a previous hospital stay I lost 20kg of excess weight from 95 to 75kg. I had gained some back, so I am hoping this shorter stay will also help me lose some excess weight.
I am satisfied with the care and service received so far.
