"Calm and reassuring midwife"

About: Maternity care (wards 68, 72 &73) / Labour suite

(as a service user),

I wanted to thank the midwife that I frequently think about. When my labour started in May 2020 at night she took me to labour ward and looked after me. It was frightening to go to labour at 31 weeks. Not only she was calm and reassuring but she trusted me. It meant the world to me. I remember machines not picking up my contractions and her hands on my belly not feeling them. She STILL trusted me. That was the best feeling ever, to be believed, not dismissed.

I do not remember her name, but the midwife that came after her was Fiona (she was awesome too). My boy was born the following morning.

I really hope this reaches her, as I will be forever grateful for the trust and and the feeling of safety and reassurance.

Dear EgleB93,

Thanks you so much for taking the time to contact us and to share how much your midwives support in labour meant to you. I can completely relate to how anxious you felt in labour at 31 weeks and your story reaffirms how intimate that trust between you and your midwife helped your labour journey and indeed your memory of such an important time.

I will of course be delighted to share your thanks to Fiona and the rest of the labour ward team however if you also want to contact me with your details I can also share this with the midwife who made such a difference to your experience. This I am in no doubt will mean as much to her as it has to you. You can contact me on 0141 201 3336

I hope you and your baby boy are well, it has not been the easiest transition to parenthood with a premature baby and restrictions over the past 18 months. Thank- you again for your kind words, which I know will make the staffs day,

Kind regards,

Vicki Mazzoni
