"Long wait for booster jab"

About: NHS Grampian / COVID-19 Vaccination Service

(as the patient),

Went for covid booster jab for 11.10 at John Lewis Aberdeen.  I didn't get a jab until an hour later. Some elderly people were standing for an hour. I feel this is an excessive wait. Why didn't the venue they ensure that only took enough bookings which they could cope with.   Also the person directly in front of me had an appt for 11.40 so they where allowed to join queue early. which may have caused queue buildup.

Thank you for the feedback. I will discuss this with the wider team.

I am sorry that you experienced such a lengthy wait for your vaccine. We appreciate everyone turning up for their vaccine, so try our best to ensure you are seen as near your time as possible.

We do plan for the number of appointments offered to try to be as efficient as we can be. Unfortunately we don't always see people at their allocated time, due to a variety of factors, I am sorry this was your experience.

We do actively encourage people to attend at their allocated time, but do take in to account personal situations if people attend earlier.

Regards Fiona

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience when attending the Aberdeen City Vaccination Centre (former John Lewis) I will certainly share this with the team. I wish to apologise that your wait was longer than we would have planned, the aim is to respond to the changing queue throughout the day. The centre ensures adequate staffing to support booked appointments but also support citizens who wish to attend without an appointment, which can increase the expected numbers and indeed increase waiting. We will as a team reiterate the need to continually assess queue management throughout the day to ensure we take immediate action. Thank you again
