"Thank you for the care and understanding"

I had to attend Lincoln Hospital for a colposcopy following an abnormal smear result which showed high grade severe dyskaryosis. I was anxious about the appointment, mostly as I find smears really uncomfortable and partly because I was worried about what they might find.

Dr Mohammed who did the colposcopy along with two nurses Jen and Heather were all extremely patient and understanding. They explained everything in just enough detail so I knew what to expect but not so much that I'd be out off completely. Despite this, I was still incredibly anxious but they all did an amazing job and managed to carry out the procedure. It wasn't pleasant and I was glad when it was over but they all did a great job of reassuring me and trying to alleviate some of my worries. Though its unpleasant it is an incredibly important procedure to go through to help detect cell changes and to spot any early signs of cancer and get them dealt with as soon as possible.
