"Face Masks "

About: East Surrey Hospital

I attended A and E and I have no criticism regarding the medical care however I felt uncomfortable in the waiting room because a minority of people, mostly young people were not wearing masks. this should be mandatory in this setting particularly considering the potential vulnerability of other patients. I urge the hospital to police this, I realize that some will have reasons not to wear a mask but what I saw was just blatant disregard for others.

Thank you for raising this important point. We do expect all patients and visitors to wear a face mask unless they are exempt. I have fed back to the leadership team in the Emergency Department to ensure we are monitoring the compliance of this.
