I was admitted to hospital for a procedure in ARI (Aberdeen royal infirmary) - pink zone level 0 minor theatre ward yesterday.
I had a procedure on my back which included injections, which I found extremely painful. The theatre staff there were amazing when I first came in, they were speaking away to me which put me at ease right away. They were so friendly and welcoming it was so beneficial to me to relax and feel reassured. When I was in having my procedure I was crying due to being so sore. While having the procedure done, they held my hand and sat beside me throughout the whole procedure, telling me everything would be ok. I sadly did not catch the theatre staffs names but I would like them to know and get this message, as I was so beyond grateful of there care and compassion they showed me that day - it really made a difference to my experience. They were so professional and empathetic to me it made everything better. The consultant and his colleague who helped perform the procedure were so professional and explained all to me thoroughly. Christine, my nurse back on the ward, was lovely and engaged with me the whole time I was back after the procedure and was very attentive and amazing at her job. Being a staff nurse myself I was really anxious prior to coming in being on the receiving hand of things but can’t thank everyone enough for my lovely experience on their ward. You all did an amazing job and I will be forever grateful to you all.
"Friendly and helpful staff"
