"How undervalued nhs staff are."

(as a service user),

All medical staff pay them more!

From call handlers, front line paramedics to nurses, auxiliary nurses, cleaners, porters, doctors and surgeons, you may ask why? Well here is my experience and reasons why.

While having a heart attack the paramedics came out and stabilised me until I got to hospital. On arrival I was met by a team of doctors and nurses who made me comfortable. Later that night I took a turn for the worse and got blue lighted across the city to another hospital by paramedics where again a team were waiting for me, where do Porters come into it u may ask. Well these guys cleared corridors and made sure secure entry doors were open for my safe and fast passage while running down the corridors and also pushing my bed.

At 2.30 in the morning the most pleasant doctors and surgeons were waiting for me in theatre with all the nursing staff too. Surgery was difficult for them taking 2 hrs and not giving up to save me while still keeping me calm and relaxed as I was awake. After surgery the cleaning team were in clearing up the theatre and also cleaning me up too. You may say is that it well no it’s not.

About 1am this morning the team on my ward battled to save a patient’s life sadly they didn’t make it after battling for 30 mins. You could hear it in all their voices they were down and very deflated but yet at 6am that same staff were in to see me and checking how I was with a big smile on their faces. Tell me how hard that must actually be. Medical staff are constantly dealing with death from the minute the call is placed but yet soon as they attend to the next patient they need too just switch off and put it all behind them and have a smile on their face for them.

Pay them more because the dam well deserve it not like the fat cat politicians that sit in meetings and fall asleep half pissed. 🤬🤬🤬

Sorry it’s an early morning rant but hardly slept last night taking stock of what’s went on in my life since Wednesday. We just take the NHS for granted. ❤️💙💚

Dear Heart Surviver

Thank you for getting in touch and my apologies for the delay in replying.

I am sorry to hear that you have had a heart attack and had to be blue lighted to another hospital during the night – I am sure this would have been a worrying time.

Thank you for taking the time to thank our staff and for recognising their professionalism and hard work in these challenging times and I will be delighted to share your feedback with the Team.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

Take Care

Nicole
