I had a perforated bowel almost 4 yrs ago and needed a colostomy bag which is permanant. It's a retracted stoma that doesn't work well, so needs weekly visits to a local hospital. I went to Altnagelvin for a procedure, which the fabulous stoma nurses performed. Debbie and Pauline at the hospital not only, from day one (almost 4 yrs ago) have provided me with my medical needs, but the emotional support they provide, for not only myself, but my family, is above and beyond their job role. I found it very traumatic and difficult to accept my condition, but they have been there every step of the way and continue to do so.
What an asset to a team! Amazing nurses and I might add they are really what the best of the NHS is all about ...I would be lost without them .
