"Waiting for vaccinations in poor weather"

About: NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde / Covid Vaccination Programme

(as a service user),

My wife who is nearly 80 was called for flu and Covid vaccination to East Renfrewshire Carmichael hall early evening in mid October, last a cold wet night.

In excess of 100 elderly and in-firmed people were made to wait outside in deteriorating weather conditions for over 1 hour.

The staff were unfailingly considerate and helpful but in an intolerable situation caused by whoever was responsible for organising this mayhem. Will anyone be held responsible ?

Will I receive an explanation? I doubt it!!

Hi Drbob,

Thank you for sharing your feedback, I am sorry to hear about the experience you and your wife had at the Carmichael Hall Vaccination Centre. I have shared your feedback with the Vaccination service for their ongoing learning, and Bryan in that team asked me to thank you for sharing your experience, and to assure you that the Vaccination team really value feedback from patients accessing the centres.

He also asked me to share some details about how the team are actively using all feedback received to review and improve the the layout, set up and approach's taken to support patients at Vaccinations Centre. Some of the key areas they are looking at currently are patient waiting times, seating for less mobile and older patients and venue logistics to best balance getting people as ready and quick access to the Vaccine as possible while minimising wait times at vaccination centres.

He also wanted to thank you for your praise of the Vaccination Centre staff, and their helpful and considerate actions, and will make sure that this gets to the staff delivering vaccinations.

Kind regards

Paul

Thank you, but are they actually doing something about it. Much of what needs to be done is common sense and a little consideration. I am certain this does not take meetings discussion papers and all the other paraphernalia of management it requires action pure and simple!!
