"Paeds Short Stay Experience in RVI"

About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary / Paediatrics

(as a service user),

Child was admitted overnight reviewed on admission and was not seen the next day until parent had to ask at about 19:22.

Had a temperature spike of 38 degrees, with constant throbbing headaches and dizziness. It took another hour to get oral paracetamol and the parent had to again ask.
Discharged home after the request review, off legs and immediately after a fall in the short say toilet. With a low haemoglobin count.
That is a symptomatic anaemia. Headaches and dizziness about 6 weeks post a covid infection and about 2 weeks post a vaccination in a previously fit and well child.  No safety netting advice given.
Parent made to feel unwelcome and a burden.
