My elderly Mum recently become unwell quite suddenly and was admitted to Craigavon Area Hospital. She spent about ten days as an inpatient in ward 1 East. The hospital Social Worker then arranged for her to recover at Cloughreagh House for respite. Here she deteriorated again, and was admitted to Daisy Hill Hospital female medical ward for a period of time.
The staff in all facilities were excellent. Particularly so, in Cloughreagh House where they looked after Mum as if she were a member of their own family. This was very reassuring at a time when face to face visiting was totally prohibited. They staff arranged for us to speak to Mum at first floor window from garden area. The Trust social worker we dealt with was lovely, she was reassuring and arranged domicillary care services for Mum for returning home. She was also the first person to ask about my needs as a carer. Staff are under such immense pressure, yet they remain caring and patient, particularly in our case, with an elderly lady with significant agitation and anxiety. Thank you SHSCT !
