"Ward 15 Respiratory"

About: City Hospital (Birmingham)

I arrived on Ward 15 from A&E about 10pm on 11th Oct 2021 and immediately there was a loud altercation between patients. Hospital Security was summoned to quieten it down. The following day, 12th Oct, I had to request that the loud music (playing all day through a speaker-not headphones, this proved a problem with other patients) be turned down on the Ward ( the music coming directly from Bed 10). The problem patient was in Bed 10, I was Bed 15.

That night (12th Oct) around 10pm a patient was admitted from A&E. Another mega row blew up between the Bed 10 patient and the new admittance. Again Security was summoned. The morning of 13th Oct, firstly I requested a Complaints Form and the nurse informed me there was no such procedure.13th Oct, there was another Ward row between nurses and patients (Yes, Bed 10)about 11.30am . I went off to the Ward Office and spoke with a line manager. I then met with Ward Sister, in the afternoon and later I met with Matron concerning the ill discipline and the rows). In both instances I asked about the duty of care and professionalism on this Ward. They both agreed with my complaint and said an investigation would follow.

I was on this Ward for 4 days and there arose an atmosphere which pervaded with certain nurses. Being ill and extremely tired, I did not find this experience went anyway towards my recovery.
