Dear Anonymous

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry your experience wasn’t positive.

Patients are triaged and appropriate investigations instigated prior to patients being assessed by a clinician, this is so that life threatening illnesses are prioritised by the team. I am sorry that you had to wait so long and that you felt the need to take your own discharge.

During October the average waiting time to see a clinician was 126 minutes and a wait of 7 hours would have been an exception.

We have shared your comments with the ED Team who have asked me to say they are sorry that you feel you had a poor experience while visiting Poole Emergency Department but also reminded me that all EDs nationally are under extreme pressure, while making sure patients, particularly overnight, are seen in order of clinical priority.

It would be difficult to give a more details about your personal waiting time or experience without further details about yourself. If you would like to enquire further then please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0300 019 8499 or patientexperienceteam@uhd.nhs.uk who can take your details and look into it for you.

Regards

Patient Experience Team
