"Amazing , caring and supportive."

About: Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response

(as a service user),

On Saturday 9th October 2021 my father fell and I could not move him -and a wonderful ambulance crew attended - they got my dad moved but with such great care and concern for his dignity it made such a stressful scenario so much better.

They helped me get him cleaned up and dressed so when he had to go into hospital he was going in a much better state.

They were warm and amazing with my mother, their friendly banter calming her down and their professionalism reassuring both of us he was in really good hands. With my father they were so caring - making sure he wasn't in pain , making sure he was comfortable and communicating with him even when he couldn't communicate back.

I also want to mention the paramedic who phoned me to triage and set my expectations of time frame and also arranged this crew to come out. I really wish I could remember their names to thank them personally but I hope this can be directed to them,

Dear Cafess76

Thank you for such heartfelt compliments towards the crew and the control room clinicians who assisted you recently after your dads fall. We are extremely grateful that you have taken the time to share your positive feedback after what sounds like such an anxious and stressful situation for both your dad, and the family.

Thankfully the crew were able to assist you with lifting your dad off the floor whilst protecting his dignity and offering reassurance to both him and your mum. It is very difficult to watch a loved one suffer in this way and recalling the events can be particularly harrowing.

The clinicians involved would be thrilled to hear your extremely high level of praise however I would need a few extra details to enable me to locate them all. If you would be happy to discuss this further, please contact me on amanda.sweetlove@nias.hscni.net

I hope your dad is recovering well and feeling a great deal better.

Take care

Amanda
