About: Topsham Surgery

My 7 year old has had recurring intermittent high fever, lethargy, inappetance and weight loss for 4 weeks. I have tried to see or speak to a GP at Topsham but it is impossible to access any healthcare through the practice.

There are no phone appointments available when I try to book online and when I fill in the online questionnaire I am told I need to seek help by calling 111. Noone answers the phone when I call.

On 3 occasions I have done this and been referred to A&E.

Today the nurse at 111 told me my daughter needed further investigation with blood tests as this condition had been continuing for so long. The Topsham surgery did not have any phone appointments available for 111 to book.

I ended back in A&E who told me they could not admit her to paeds as she was not sick enough and it was the job of my GP to oversee her care. The emergency doctor said all he could do was put in my daughter's notes that she needed to be seen as soon as possible by the GP for blood tests.

I feel absolutely desperate that I simply cannot access care for my daughter and do not know where to turn. The surgery seem to have shut their doors to their community responsibility and pushed their work to the emergency clinics who do not have the capacity to deal with this. I am resorting to this review as it feels like the only way I can communicate with the practice.
