"Waste of time"

About: Haywood Hospital

After 111 advised I took my 5 year old son to get his knee checked as he could not walk. Nurse checked intially and said he will be looked at by a practitioner.

After two and half hours practitioner nurse looked at the knee and said they cannot X-ray or do blood test at Haywood and we need to him to A&E for another 3 hour wait to be looked at. I dont understand why the first nurse could not tell us straight away that they cannot help.

Thank you for contacting us regarding your visit to the Walk in Centre. I apologise for the length of time you were waiting for your son to be seen. The Walk-in Centre does receive high volumes of visitors at times and unfortunately this cannot be avoided.

The Walk-in Centre are unable to offer blood tests and cannot offer an x-ray to children under the age of five. I am sorry if this was not explained to you during triage and for any inconvenience caused. If you wish for us to look into your concerns further and provide you with a response, please contact the PALS Team on 0800 783 2865 or via email at palsandexperience@mpft.nhs.uk
