"Dinners too big"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department Craigavon Area Hospital / Orthopaedics Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response

(as the patient),

My district nurse called an ambulance due to my legs being swollen. The ambulance came within 10 minutes. I was shocked at how fast they came, I didn’t even have time to pack a bag but my family have been able to leave stuff at the front door for me.

I was seen straight away in A&E then moved to Ortho. The staff get me everything I need and are very pleasant. The meals are  repetitive and I feel  its the same choices for lunch and tea. I also think 2 big diners per day is too much and a waste of money. I love the vegetable soup.

I choked on a piece of food and the all the staff came running in to help me which was reassuring at the time. I feel like I'm in very safe hands. Agency nurse Roseann is fantastic and very gentle, I don’t even feel the needle going in. The ward can be cold at times, even with 3 blankets I still get cold at night.

Dear Couragehr77

Thank you for taking the time out of your recovery to include the ambulance service in your kind compliments.

Our aim is to arrive with all service users in a timely fashion and we are delighted on this occasion we excelled and you were happy with our performance.

I hope you already have a treatment plan in place and you are feeling much better.

Kind regards

Dear couragehr77 - thank you for providing this feedback in relation to your recent experience. It is great to read that the staff get you everything you need. It must have been a very frightening experience when you choked on some food, it was great that the staff were able to provide reassurance and that you felt safe in their care.

I will share your comments with the staff regarding the meals and the blankets for their consideration

I hope you are now feeling better

Best wishes

Christine Armstrong
