I received a pressure wound caused by two visits to A and E and being placed on a very hard bed for several hours at each occasion despite requesting to be moved and then at a later date a visit to Wheelchair Services again meant I was sat on a hard bed for several hours. The culmination of these three events meant that a large pressure sore developed, which was then handed over to the Bassetlaw Community Nursing Team.
Initially Leah and her team visited every day to dress the wound. It is now twice a week. Most of that time, over the last year, I have spent in bed. I am now, with the help of my carers and wife sitting out for up to 3 hours a day. Leah and Gav have dressed my wound this week and they are hopeful It will will soon be healed. I have nothing but great respect for the whole team who have worked extremely hard to ensure my life will soon be back to normal. Any concerns I have had have been dealt with in a friendly efficient and sympathetic manner. The team have also supported my wife through some difficult times.
