"In awe of the patient care"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a carer),

My sister was cared for in accident and emergency in a side ward of 6 beds.  . Whilst we had to wait a very long time for a bed we were treated with care and respect.  It’s not the fault of staff that beds are not freed up.  I watched the night time activities with shock - staff subjected to verbal abuse .  Police in constant attendance .  And so short staffed! The  young nurse Nicole who was in our ward never stopped yet maintained her gentle caring manner and took time to make me a cup of tea during the night.  I’m in awe of the job our nhs staff do !

Dear Carkc43,

My name is Linsey Sheerin, I am the Service Manager for Urgent and Emergency Care at the Royal Victoria Hospital. Thank you for taking the time to share both you and your sister's experience on Care Opinion, I will ensure that it is shared with the team and especially Nicole. Our staff work tirelessly under difficult circumstances to provide the treatment and care patients need, at times this can take longer than we would wish. I hope your sister is currently well and making progress in her recovery.

Best Wishes

Linsey
